Veronique Matarasso MA(Mus Ed) LRAM
Veronique studied at the Royal Academy of Music with Ralph Holmes, gaining the LRAM, after which she studied for an MA in Music Education at Trinity College of Music in 1999.
She has played the violin in professional orchestras since 1985 working regularly with The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Southern Sinfonia, The London Handel Orchestra, The Hanover Band, Ex Cathedra, the Choir of New College, Oxford and Armonico Consort, among others.
As a member of these orchestras she has toured extensively in Europe and the USA, is regular performer at London’s Southbank and has played in many international music festivals such as those in Salzburg and Edinburgh. Veronique has played with The Hanover Band at New York’s Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Centre, and at Glyndebourne with the OAE and many times at the BBC Proms.
Working with these orchestras has also involved recording much fine music with conductors including Sir Charles Mackerras, Laurence Cummings, Vladimir Jurowski, Marin Alsop, Sir Roger Norrington and Roy Goodman.
Veronique is a committed violin teacher and enjoys working with enthusiastic violinists of all ages.

2019: Queen Victoria's Playlist
Petroc Trelawny and Suzannah Lipscomb introduce an evening of music to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Queen Victoria’s birth. The Prom features the music of her favourite composer, Mendelssohn, including his ‘Scottish’ Symphony and First Piano Concerto, which will be performed by Stephen Hough on Victoria’s own piano, loaned by Her Majesty The Queen from the Royal Collection. There is also a suite from Arthur Sullivan’s ballet Victoria and Merrie England and songs composed by her consort, Prince Albert.
